ILA/ACRL & IPAL Spring Conference 2023 Summary

The ILA/ACRL & IPAL Spring Conference was held on May 24 & 25 at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. It truly takes a village to make this opportunity for professional growth, learning, and relationship building available for library and information professionals across the state. The theme of the conference, “Breaking Barriers,” was woven throughout the sessions and discussions, as library and information professionals shared how they navigate and clear away barriers to support students’ academic success, to provide accessible collections and spaces, and to incorporate sustainability and revitalization into their workload.

At the awards luncheon, Dordt University was awarded the Public Relations/Marketing award for their program, Let the Library Be Your Lifesaver, and Lauren Claeys, University of Iowa, was awarded the Mary Iber Spring Conference Scholarship.

Kudos to our talented Spring Conference Planning Committee: Mary Anderson (Chair), Jamie Byerly, Heather Campbell, Melissa Curtis, Jen Provorse, Kristy Raine, Pam Rees, and Kris Stacy-Bates. Thank you to our generous sponsors: Mobius, ProQuest, and EBSCO. Much appreciation goes to our wonderful speakers for sharing their expertise with us. And, many, many thanks to everyone who attended!

We are looking forward to conferencing with you again at Iowa State University in Ames on May 22-23, 2024!
