The Center: bringing academic centers & services together at Simpson College

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Dunn Library has been working towards The Center for several years. We are in year seven of intentional, incremental changes to build academic community. Based on our 2009 LibQUAL+ survey results, 2011 program review, 2012 visioning report, and 2015 concept designs, faculty and staff housed in Dunn Library are now collaborating to make it happen. By reducing print collections, sharing a variety of office spaces and equipment and adding color, the space is being defined with form following function.

The main goal is to develop a central location on the first floor of Dunn Library for student academic services. Students will be able to discover services that were located in less accessible places. Academic offices in the new learning space will include research assistance (formerly known as the Research Assistance Center), student accessibility (formerly known as disabilities office), writing across the curriculum (formerly known as the Writing Center), and advising/tutoring/NCAA Life Skills (formerly known as Hawley Center). The Center will be available to Simpson students in August 2016.
